About the course
This blended course is ideal for many workplaces where 2-day face-to-face training courses are more challenging for course participant attendance.
There are two components to the Blended Online MHFA Course:
- A self-paced eLearning component (takes 5-7 hours to complete)
- An instructor-led component using ZOOM (2 sessions of 2.5 hours each including set-up time).
The training will cover:
- Depression and anxiety
- Psychosis
- Substance use problems
As how to handle:
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Panic attacks
- Traumatic events
- Severe psychotic states
- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
- Aggressive behaviours.
Duration
Self-paced e-learning (5-7 hours), followed by 2 x 2.5hour video conferencing sessions
Audience
All adult staff 18 years and over in the workplace

Upon completion of the training participants will have learnt how to:
- Identify mental illness
- Signs & symptoms
- Types of mental health illnesses
- Where to seek professional help
- Understanding research to effectively manage people’s mental health
- Dealing with crisis
- Action plans
