PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Are you getting angry and annoyed with those you love? Hurting your loved ones emotionally or physically? Bottling things up and then exploding? Feeling anxious, confused or losing self-control? Concerned about the way you behave towards your partner or children? Have you received an intervention order or parenting order?
The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBC) provides an opportunity to develop more satisfying relationships, learn non-abusive behaviour, challenge old ways of thinking and acting, develop a caring respect for yourself and others and develop responsibility for your own actions.
The program involves intensive work to enable men to accept responsibility for their choices and behaviour and to handle strong emotion and conflict with understanding, confidence and self-control.
Facilitators work to support new learning and to challenge unproductive attitudes in a climate of safety that models respectful relating. Relationship Matters staff maintain contact with family members and invite partners and others affected by violent behaviour to attend an information session and counselling.
Program Cost
The cost of the 20-week program is $380.00 ($280.00 for concession card holders) (and a 10% discount if you pay all fees upfront). A fee of $50 is also applicable for two intake assessments.
The program must be fully paid for a Letter of Attendance to be issued.

Post Participation
The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) Post Participation service was developed as an extension of the MBCP to continue to support client’s behaviour change through group or one-on-one engagement. The MBCP Post Participation is for those that have done 20 sessions of MBCP. It is designed to form a transition from being engaged with MBCP weekly sessions, to continuing to practice living without using family violence unsupported by the MBCP process. These sessions are free and will be conducted by qualified MBCP facilitators.
We also offer MBCP Post Participation to men who have not been able to attend all 20 sessions of MBCP and wish to continue to work on changing their behaviour.
Men’s Case Management
Men’s Case Management (MCM) is offered to men who for various reasons cannot attend an MBCP. Reasons for being offered MCM can be such things as needing an interpreter to engage in counselling, having a mental or physical health condition that would make it difficult to attend a group setting on site.
It is also for men who are seeking behaviour change but have other pressures in their life that interfere with attending MBCP.
For men who have been instructed to attend an MBCP by a Magistrate at Court, it is always advisable to check that this is an acceptable option. While these sessions are free, intake assessment for MBCP ($50 for 2 x 90 minute appointments) is required to assess suitability.
Safety and Support
Men’s Behaviour Change Programs provide the opportunity for men to acquire new skills that help change destructive behaviour and abusive reactions. Programs are conducted in a safe environment and model respectful relating.
Relationship Matters staff maintain contact with family members and invite partners and others affected by violent behaviour to attend an information session and counselling.
The safety and wellbeing of partners, ex-partners, children and family members is paramount in the provision of our services.
Post program support is also available.
