Maya came to Australia in 1995 as a refugee from war-torn Bosnia. She worked in the family violence and multicultural sector for eight years as CEO of inTouch, Multicultural Centre against Family Violence. As a senior adviser at Family Safety Victoria, Maya led the development of Everybody Matters: Inclusion and Equity Statement that underpins the Victorian Government’s vision for a more inclusive family violence system. Prior to joining Relationship Matters, she was Executive Director at Court Network overseeing more than 500 volunteers and staff who provide support to more than 200,000 vulnerable court users in Victoria and Queensland.
Maya has MBA and accounting qualifications. She has a proven track record of delivering innovative service models and strategic partnerships and has been tireless in her advocacy to improve access to services for marginalised and diverse cohorts.
Maya was a winner of 2019 Impact 25 award and in 2020 she was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in recognition of her advocacy efforts for victims of family violence.
