Couples
Who is this for?
Our couples and relationship counselling in Melbourne and Victoria helps improve communication, navigate transitions, and reconnect, so you can build a stronger, more supportive relationship.
You may benefit from this service if:
- You want to reconnect emotionally
- You want to improve the communication in your relationship
- You’re feeling more like housemates than partners
- There’s unresolved conflict or stress in your relationship
- Parenting or life responsibilities are causing tension
We welcome all couples and relationship types and will provide you with a safe and supportive space to discuss your relationship challenges.
What can I expect?
Our job is to help you feel comfortable and supported.
When you first get in touch, one of our friendly client services officers will explain our fees and help you book your session, whether you prefer to meet at one of our locations or online.
Before your first session, you’ll be asked to fill out registration and consent for service forms. This helps us understand your situation better and explains the counselling process and your rights around privacy and confidentiality.
During your first session (which lasts about 50 minutes), your counsellor will:
- Discuss confidentiality and privacy with you.
- Ask questions to understand what’s been happening in your life.
- Explore any underlying triggers or factors that may be contributing to your situation.
- Most importantly, talk about what you hope to get out of counselling.
We will begin by meeting with you individually. This helps your counsellor understand your individual needs and goals. Where assessed as safe and suitable, your counsellor will then meet with you and your partner together.
Your counsellor will discuss and make a plan with you for your next steps, whether that means weekly, fortnightly, or a different schedule that works for you. At the end of each session, our team will help you book your next appointment.

Yes. Relationship counselling is available to young people who want support with their relationships. This may include early relationships, navigating boundaries, communication challenges, or building a healthy emotional connection.
Couples counsellors can support people with a wide range of relationship concerns. This can include communication breakdowns, ongoing conflict, trust issues, parenting stress, life transitions, or feeling disconnected over time.
Many couples say they lose sight of what matters and become stuck in negative cycles that are hard to change without support. Our role is to provide a safe space where both people feel heard and respected. With guidance from a professional counsellor, you can better understand your patterns, strengthen emotional connection, and work towards positive change in the most important relationship in your life.
There is no set number of sessions. This depends on your goals, your circumstances, and the unique dynamics of your relationship. Some couples find a few sessions helpful, while others benefit from longer-term support.
All couples heal differently, and the healing process takes time. Your counsellor will regularly review progress with you and adjust the approach as needed, with the aim of supporting lasting change that feels realistic and sustainable.
That is very common. Reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially if you are unsure what to expect or where to start.
You do not need to have clear answers before booking a session. An initial conversation with a professional counsellor can help you explore what is happening and decide what feels right for you. Even taking this first step can help you reflect on your relationship and consider whether counselling could support a more loving relationship over time.
