If you’re going through a tough time, you don’t have to face it on your own. The Accessible Psychological Interventions program offers free, short-term mental health support for those who live, work or study in the Frankston or Glen Eira local government areas. Our qualified team uses evidence-based approaches to help you build resilience and feel more in control of your life. Whether you need support on your own, with your family, or in a group, we’re here to find what fits best for you.

Who is this for?

If you’re experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns, help is available. The Accessible Psychological Interventions program offers caring and professional mental health counselling and groups so you don’t have to go through it on your own.

You may be eligible for Accessible Psychological Interventions mental health counselling  if you:

  • Live, work or study in the Frankston or Glen Eira Local Government Areas
  • Hold a Health Care Card, and/or
  • Are unable to afford or access similar mental health services.

We also value the involvement of carers, family members or trusted support people. If it’s helpful for you, they’re welcome to be part of discussions and decisions around your care and recovery.

What can I expect?

This program is offered through our partnership with South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (SEMPHN). SEMPHN works to improve access to health and mental health services across Melbourne’s south east.  Once we receive your referral from the South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network we will contact you and book an appointment with a counsellor.  The counsellor will discuss your needs and goals and develop a care plan with you.

We’re here to support you in understanding and managing your mental health, using practical coping strategies that can make everyday life feel more manageable. Our aim is to help you reflect, learn and gain access to the right tools that support your wellbeing. This may include:

  • Working on goals to improve your mental health and wellbeing
  • Providing psychoeducation
  • Working on skills development and  training
  • Developing self-care and relaxation strategies
  • Therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
