Home / Relationship and Parenting Groups / Circle of Security™
Parenting can be incredibly rewarding, but it’s not always easy. Circle of Security® Parenting™ is an eight-week program that helps parents and caregivers of babies and young children better understand and respond to their child’s emotional needs.
Through this supportive group experience, you’ll gain tools to build secure, trusting relationships that help your child feel safe and supported.
Who is this for?
This program is designed for parents and caregivers of children aged 4 months to 6 years old who want to:
- Strengthen their connection with their child.
- Understand their child’s emotional cues and behaviours.
- Build a more secure and resilient relationship.
- Feel more confident and calm in their parenting.
Whether you’re a brand new parent or navigating the preschool years, this program will meet you where you are.
What can I expect?
Before the program starts, you’ll have a one-on-one 50 minute phone call with one of our counsellors. This is a chance for us to make sure the program is the right fit for you and to answer any questions you have. We’ll ask you some questions about your current situation, which helps us ensure the program meets your needs.
Each session runs for two hours and sessions are generally held at the same time each week over eight weeks. The program is held online. To get the most out of the sessions, you’ll need a laptop, computer, or tablet with a stable internet connection. It’s also important to have a private space where you won’t be interrupted by children or other adults.
How can we help?
Led by our highly experienced counsellors in a safe and respectful space, the sessions are practical and interactive, giving you tools you can use at home right away.
You’ll explore:
- How to recognise and respond to your child’s emotional needs.
- How to provide a “secure base” from which your child can confidently explore the world.
- Ways to encourage confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being in your child.
- Your own parenting responses and how to manage them.
How to book
To join, you can either book online or call our team. Once we have received your order, we will contact you to book your 50 minute intake appointment. If we assess that the group is not the best suited to your needs, we will discuss with you other alternative and suitable options.

Frequently asked questions

This program takes place over eight, two hour sessions, which are generally held at the same time each week.
Groups are capped at 12 participants.
The program is based on attachment theory and uses the Circle of Security visual “map” in relation to how you can attend to the needs of your child by providing a secure base and a safe haven for them to explore and return. The program explores children’s needs all the way around the circle, how to “be with” your child, exploring parents’ struggles, as well as rupture and repair in relationships.
This course is open to parents and caregivers of children aged up to six years. This program accepts both individuals and couples into the program. Court-ordered clients are also welcome.
