Compassion in Action: Leading Workplace Responses to Family Violence or Mental Health Concerns

Key personnel hold a critical role in creating environments where employees feel safe, supported, and able to seek help when facing difficult circumstances.

In addition, there are responsibilities under new Occupational Health and Safety (Psychological Health) Regulations 2025 as well as obligations under the National Employment Standards, which provide all employees with 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave each year.

The session explores workplace responsibilities, early warning signs, confidentiality considerations, and how to respond without overstepping professional boundaries.

Learning Outcomes

This training provides guidance on recognising and responding to employees experiencing family and domestic violence or mental health challenges.

The training will build confidence in:

• Having sensitive conversations
• Providing appropriate referrals
• Fostering a culture of psychological safety

By the end of the training, leaders will be equipped to promote wellbeing, uphold organisational obligations, and support staff with compassion, clarity, and confidence.

Trainer

Carol Wlodarczyk
Business Support Specialist, Workplace Matters

Carol is a registered psychologist and experienced HR executive who has worked in the family violence sector as a group facilitator. She has direct experience managing and supporting employees who are experiencing family violence or mental health issues.

Holding a Master’s degree in Organisational and Industrial Psychology, Carol understands the importance of balancing organisational responsibilities and employee wellbeing to achieve a positive, engaged and productive workforce.
