The VicRoads Drink Behaviour Change Program is a court-mandated program for offenders who have been found guilty of drink driving offences. This is a 6-hour program comprising of two group sessions delivered over two consecutive weeks. It will involve drivers recorded with a first time Blood Alcohol Concentration offence below 0.15.
This group program provides factual information on drink driving and its consequences and encourages participants to think about their beliefs, motivations and behaviour.
To complete the program, you’ll need to participate in all program components, including:
- contributing to group discussion
- participating in all activities
- completing the participant handbook
- completing the alcohol use questionnaire to determine if you require further support.
*The facilitator may provide you with a referral for further support to assist you with any alcohol or other drug problems.
**Participants must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start time to complete enrolment administration requirements.
VicRoads Drink Behaviour Change Program Completion Certificate
Participants who successfully complete the program will be issued with a Drink Behaviour Change Program Completion Certificate. This certificate will then need to be submitted to VicRoads as evidence of successful completion of the Program.
The Drink Behaviour Change Program is approved by VicRoads under the Road Safety Act 1986. Relationship Matters is one of a number of providers approved by VicRoads to deliver Drink Behaviour Change Programs to offenders. More details can be found on the VicRoads website at www.vicroads.vic.gov.au
IMPORTANT – ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST READ THE FOLLOWING
1. Conditions of Entry
Prior to booking, please contact VicRoads Driver Relicensing Services by calling 1300 723 790, to make sure you enrol into the correct program. Failure to do so could result in part of your course fee not being refunded.
(a) Proof of Identification
All participants must provide photographic proof of identification prior to entry into the program. This may be a licence or passport. Participants also need to bring with them correspondence from VicRoads and their Court Order. The identification documentation will be sighted and copied by an authorised Relationship Matters staff member. Participants should also bring with them their receipt as evidence of full fee payment.
(b) Full Fee Payment
Full fee payment must be received and processed prior to the start of the program.
The fees for the Drink Behaviour Change Program comprise of:
Full Fee Paying $350 Includes $67 VicRoads Program Cost Recovery Fee
Concession rate $290 Includes $34 VicRoads Program Cost Recovery Fee
The program fee can be processed online or at a Relationship Matters branch via cash, EFTPOS or credit card (VISA or Mastercard).
All participants must arrive at the Relationship Matters branch at least 30 minutes prior to the program commencement to complete the administration requirements and attend the program. All participants must arrive back on time for the subsequent session after any breaks. Any participant who is 20 minutes late for the commencement of the program will not be permitted entry to that program.
Any registered participants who arrive intoxicated by alcohol or drugs, or display signs of aggression or place the safety of other participants, the facilitators or property at risk will be denied entry or ejected from the program.
2. Cancellation Policy
The program is held over two sessions, one week apart. Each session runs for approximately 3.5 hours which includes a break/s.
(b) Program Cancellation
Relationship Matters reserves the right to cancel the program. In the event that the program is cancelled, all registered participants will be contacted by telephone and transferred to another scheduled program date or issued with a refund.
(c) Participant Cancellations and ‘No Shows’.
If a participant cancels their enrolment more than 7 days prior to the program date, a transfer or refund will be issued. No refunds of Relationship Matters’ program fee will be issued for cancellations made within 7 days of the program date or for registered participants who fail to show for the program or are ejected from the program due to behaviour. Participants may not switch the second day of their booked program without providing documented evidence that they were unable to attend as per VicRoads requirements ( ie: Doctor’s certificate). If you have attended the first session and need to transfer your second session to a later date you may incur an additional transfer fee of $100. The transfer will be possible where there are vacancies. If you cannot attend the second session and do not advise us in advance you will forfeit all fees paid.
